Boys and Girls Club of Saint John, Inc.  The Boys and Girls Club of Saint John provides a safe, supportive place where children and youth can experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships and develop skills and confidence for life. They offer early education, lunch programs, sports, summer, day, after-school and evening care at their main facility plus at 2 outreach sites in the South End & Youth Choices. They are being funded to purchase the KidTrax member management system to track & record registrants/participants and personal information.  $5,000
Business Venture Group Inc.  BVG is a social enterprise run by, and for, mental health consumers to provide a supportive and flexible work environment adapted to their needs.  It provides employment at market rates, opportunities to develop self-esteem, social connections and leadership skills, helps break down the stigma associated with mental illness and expands the pool of skilled workers. Funds are for a training and development coordinator. $2,000
Centenary-Queen Square Care Centres Centre for both disadvantaged pre-school children and adults with disabilities given funding for expanded and diversified programming for adults with disabilities. It also provides respite care for caregivers. $5,000

Christmas Exchange (Christmas 2008 & 2009) The Saint John Community Christmas Exchange is a totally volunteer-run, seasonal master registry, clearing house and coordinator for needy families or individuals and the groups or sponsors that help them (churches, community and government agencies). The network of cooperation, which oversees and ensures about 6,000 individuals or 4,000 families, are provided a Christmas basket and other gifts, is receiving funding.  $6,000
Coats for Kids  (Boys & Girls Club of Saint John) Funds granted to help annual collection, cleaning and distribution of about 1,000 donated winter children's garments. $1,000

Community Health Centre - Client Support Fund Funds for Client Support Trust Fund for individuals in crisis and unable to meet their most basic needs: medication, energy, food and transportation costs. $3,250
Community Meals on Wheels Saint John Inc.   Agency delivers nutritious, affordable meals by volunteers to clients unable because of heath, age or other disabilities. Due to program changes and the growth in frozen meal demand, a change in food products and storage, is being given financial support. $5,000
Coverdale Centre for Women Inc. &  The Clothes Closet Centre for women involved in criminal justice system or requiring support and services receives funds for 1. Weekly drop- in breakfast & lunch programs for at-risk women 2.The Clothes Closet, a free, travelling clothing/consultation program which builds women’s self-esteem and seeks to expand to offer salon & dental services. $5,000
Early Music Studio of Saint John Inc. Funds for an instrumental (16 musicians, including some youth), vocal and choral concert of Baroque and Classical music in celebration of Saint John’s 225th anniversary, planned for St. John’s Stone Church. $1,500
Ecumenical Saturday Supper Ministry of East Saint John Volunteer-run, inter-church service ministry providing full nutritious evening meal weekly to about 40 individuals/families in need at St. Mary’s and St. Bartholomew’s Church granted support. Funded by the Dr. J.P. and Anita McInerney Family Fund. $2,000
Elizabeth Fry Society of Saint John  Funding for group supporting women in conflict with the law to offer Crossroads to Success, a teen intervention program of personal skill development to deal with stress, peer pressure and depression. $2,000
Family Plus Organization which enriches & promotes personal, family & work life through self-development, family wellness and work solutions given funds to develop, conduct & evaluate a program for female adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse. Funded by the St. Barnabas Chapel of Ease Fund. $1,000
Family Resource (S.J.) Inc.  The Centre provides a supportive environment, education, information and resources to caregivers of children and expectant parents. Grant to purchase car/booster seats for transporting children by taxi to the Centre’s programs to promote enhanced safety and reduce potential accidents.  $1,000
Hammond River Angling Association HRAA promotes stewardship, protection, conservation, restoration and enhancement of the Hammond River ecosystem and granted funds to construct a living willow Green Space as a teaching tool for at-risk students (25) and river bank conservation project.  $2,000
Hampton Alliance for Lifelong Learning  HALL provides resources & support to Hampton area families with children 0-5yrs. to create an environment & culture of learning which recognizes & values parents as children’s primary teachers. Funds granted for “Celebrate Baby” program targeting new parents with activities and education. $500
Hospice Greater Saint John Group providing end-of-life care programs to support non-medical needs of dying people & families given funds to purchase computer equipment for a 24 hour, 10 bed residential palliative care facility on West Side, alleviating the need for hospitalization. $2,000
Imperial Theatre Inc.  Saint John’s premier theatre granted funding to assist admission costs for economically disadvantaged, disabled or challenged senior theatre patrons. Funded by the Dr. J.P. and Anita McInerney Family Fund. $3,000
John Howard Society, Saint John Branch Inc.  This organization which accepts responsibility for dealing with the problems of crime and the criminal justice system is provided funding for a Resiliency Centre for youth and their families. It will focus on those unable to pay and building pro-social communication and relationship skills for youth in conflict with the youth criminal justice system. Funded by the Gladys and Samuel Davis Fund. $3,040
KV3C - Kennebecasis Valley Community Caring for Children  “Kennebecasis Valley, Community, Capacity, Children” partners with parents, government and businesses to develop and enhance existing child development resources in 3 KV locations. They offer programs & connect parents of pre-schoolers to information and services to enhance their learning & development. Two grants made for 1. playgroups and 2. To provide a transportation subsidy for families who can not attend classes, due to lack of transportation. $4,000
Loch Lomond Villa Foundation, Inc.  Nursing home and seniors’ complex given support to resolve the re-design, expansion/renovation/ refurbishment of its 50 bed Dogwood Lane nursing unit. Funded by the Old Ladies Home Fund. $3,000
Nature Conservancy of Canada National group for protection, conservation of areas of biological diversity for future generations granted funds to enhance Musquash Estuary Nature Preserve Trail Project at Five Fathom Hole- Frenchman's Creek through community involvement, further trail improvements and promotion. $3,000
New Brunswick Association for Community Living NBACL supports people with intellectual disabilities and their families in NB so they can live with dignity, respect and a sense of belonging. An inclusive conference for these families is planned for 2010 and given funding to help support those who often require extra financial support to attend, share information and experiences. $1,635

Prince Charles School - After School Program After school (inner city, priority neighbourhood) program offering academics assistance, literary development, recreation, and the arts to strengthen and develop students’ academic, social and life skills. Quality Learning New Brunswick Literacy-promotion group encourages families from socio-economically challenged neighbourhoods to become independent learners. Granted support for 3 North End Saint John communities to create/maintain small community libraries (workshops, management, catalogue systems, shelving & book purchases) in response to interest from these communities. $1,500
Saint John Amateur Speed Skating Club Youth skating group given support to replace & purchase protective arena board pads. $500
Saint John Association for Community Living SJACL, which fosters opportunities in Greater Saint John for people with intellectual disabilities and people with multiple barriers to employment, proposes a Family Network. Funds to provide a facilitator to bring together families of students with an intellectual disability (Gr. 9-12, School Dist. 6 & 8) to share information, resources and mutual support. Saint John Community Loan Fund Saint John Community Loan Fund provides small loans and support to low-income individuals to start a business or return to work. Now established in their own building, funding is granted for 1. adjacent land acquisition for affordable housing; 2. manager time to develop building project, 3. to build a matching savings pool for clients to break poverty cycle. $5,000
